Ida Tin, co-founder of Clue and "Mother" of the term FemTech
Welcome to ‘Her Impact,’ a series celebrating remarkable women who are making a difference in the world. Join us as we delve into the inspiring stories of these extraordinary individuals.
Today we feature Ida Tin, co-founder of Clue. We asked Ida to share her insights with us about empowerment and how a more positive impact can be made in the world of entrepreneurship, business and specifically #FemTech.
Here is what she had to say:
Q: Please introduce yourself
A: I’m Ida Tin. I am a founder at heart. I co-founded the female health app called Clue in 2012, a period tracking app and health companion for women on their reproductive health journeys. Clue also got FDA clearance as the world’s first all-digital form of birth control. I coined the term Femtech in 2016 to help the world recognize that a new category of tech was on the rise. It is still growing all over the planet! Along the way I had two kids and live in Berlin though I am from Denmark. Now I spend my time talking and writing about Femtech around the world.
Q: What does “empowerment” mean to you?
A: To me it means to have the freedom, skills and mindset to take action and be part of forming the world.
Q: What Inspired to become who you are and do what you do now?
A: I wanted a new type of family planning tool for the world and saw that data on the female menstrual cycle could play a central role for women’s health.
Q: What would you tell your younger self?
A: To learn to feel my body even more and listen very very carefully to it. Especially to my female parts – they always know best!
Q: In your opinion, what would positively impact women’s success in the world (business/tech/other)?
Many women are angry – and for very good reasons! If women used their anger constructively to create the change they want, the world would change overnight.
Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to make a difference in the world?
A: Trust that what you know is important, trust that your life experiences are true, trust that what you want matters.
Thank you for being part of ‘Her Impact,’ where we honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women who are shaping our future. Stay tuned for more empowering stories.
